How to wear a military shirt....Spring 2013

Before going onto some inspiration looks to help you decide how to wear your military shirt, here is an OOTD I wore yesterday which also features a military shirt. While mine has short sleeves the military shirts ones in the examples below are all long sleeved. I opted for a casual look and I kept the colours on the darker side. My only pop of colour came from my coral top and my nails which you can see here

I am wearing....
Black skinny trousers from Zara, coral sleeveless top from Calliope, brown military shirt from Terranova, brown trainer pumps from Sicily market, gold heart stud earrings from Tally Weijl, and black shoulder bag from Stradivarius.

Below are a good number of looks featuring a military shirt. Some of them include dresses and others are styled around jeans and trousers. Let me know in the comments below which look is your favourite and also how you like to wear your military shirts.

Navy Blue Jeans.....Spring 2013 OOTD

Today I wore my new Zara jeans in navy blue. I must say I kind of hate them because they are quiet lose and I felt like I needed to keep pulling them up. When I bought them they were slightly lose around my waist, but after washing and wearing them for few hours today they felt lose from the waist as well as from the legs. Anyway, I will be wearing them with a skinny belt next time. Apart from the size being too big, I really like the shade. The fabric is not my favourite. I prefer my skinny black trousers jeans from Zara.

For this first outfit featuring these new jeans, I wanted to mix classic with edgy. The grey blazer is pretty classic but when paired with the white graphic t shirt and a pair of jeans and flat pumps it takes a more modern feel. The black rockish casual bag I paired it with made this look even more edgy.

I am wearing.....navy blue 5 pocket trousers from Zara, blue flat pumps from Stradivarius, white graphic t shirt from Alcott Sicily, grey blazer from Bershka, Rimmel London portobello pink on my nails and L'Oreal Cheeky Magenta on my lips.

Spring Haircut + OOTD

Today I went for a haircut, as my hair was getting too long and needed some definition. I booked my appointment with my favourite stylist at my favourite hair salon. So there was no doubt I was going to be pleased with the end result. I really love the haircut my hair stylist Marion gave me. It's shorter than what I was thinking but it's actually better since my next haircut is going to be even shorter. It will help me prepare for that. The atmosphere and the view at the Mr James International salon at the Radisson Golden Sands are to die for. I never use the magazines they provide me with, as I prefer staring at the blue sky. Cheesy, I know...And to make my day even better, after the haircut my husband and I went for an eggplant pizza (my favourite) and then shopping. I got a new pair of navy blue jeans. Below are pictures of my new haircut as well as some OOTD ones.

Here is my hair before getting the haircut.

I am wearing.....Black skinny trousers from Zara, black flat pumps from New Look, a beige camisole from Zara, floral blouse from Stradivarius, blush/beige blazer from Terranova, earrings from Tally Weijl, burgundy handbag from Parfois, and Michael Kors Darci gold watch.

Here is a closer look.

Easter OOTD + Figolli

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a great Easter. I did. I wanted to share my casual outfit of the day. Because I spent most the day at my parents' I wanted to wear something comfortable but still be put together. I opted for a casual outfit and went for lighter colours and fabrics since the weather has been amazing these past 2 days. I apologize for the strange faces and closed eyes, but I had the sun hitting my face. Both my parents and my husband's parents gave us one big figolla, which is a traditional Maltese Easter treat. Below you can see one of them, along with few OOTD pictures. If you are looking for something more put together, feminine and fancy check out my Easter Outfit Inspiration post. What about you, what did you do on Easter?

I am wearing: light wash jeans from Stradivarius; tank top from Zara; stars applique loose top from Stradivarius; grey scarf from a local Thai store; old grey casual jacket from Promod; grey flats from Catania (Sicily) market; and pearl studs from Tally Weijl.

Pre- SPRING: Sunday OOTD

In this post I am going to share the outfit I wore to celebrate my sister's birthday. We went out for breakfast/brunch. Since it was Sunday I wanted to look put together and chic while still being comfortable. I opted for a lose top since I knew I was going to eat a lot. I followed my March: Transitioning into Spring Polyvore set which I posted yesterday. You should have a look at it if you want to better understand the concept behind this pairing. I really liked this outfit and I felt comfortable, even after all the food I ate. This was my first light outfit since today was finally warm. I am really excited about Spring. You can read more about this in my post Waiting for Spring. Keeping with the same theme in my inspiration board, I went for a black and cream colour scheme with gold accessories and warm peachy makeup. I think black and cream is a chic and edgy combination. I opted for warm toned accessories and makeup to inject some colour into my outfit and make it more Spring appropriate (-not that I don't wear silver in Spring).

I am wearing....
Black skinny pants from Zara
Black basic top from Zara
Cream high low top from Stradivarius
Black coat from Stradivarius
Studded flats from Stradivarius
Bag from Dorothy Perkins
Necklace from Accessorize
Earrings from H&M
Michael Kors Watch

Have you started wearing lighter outfits? Is the weather getting warmer where you live?

Valentine's Day Outfit of the Night

I love Valentine's day, not that I need a particular day to celebrate the relationship with my husband, but because dining out is super romantic with all the hearts, balloons, candles, roses and other red decoration details. I also love getting dressed up-wearing a nice dress, taking longer to do my makeup and hair and sharing my outfit with you. The one thing that I hate about Valentine's day is the weather. Here in Malta, mid February is the coldest period of the year. And my hands are usually swollen with chilblains around this time. Because the cold weather makes dressing up so difficult, especially when wearing a light dress, I want to share my tricks to keeping warm even on Valentine's day while still looking feminine and put together. This OOTD follows my Valentine's Date Night Inspiration Post.

I am wearing:
Black dress from Zara (I bought this last week during the sales)
Black suede pumps from Gallaria Darmanin
Black thick tights (with warm lining inside) from a local market
Black coat from Stradivarius
Gold and brown scarf (a gift from Uk)
Black scarf from a random local shop
Crystal stud earrings from H&M
Gold Necklace from Accessorize
Michael Kors Watch Darci
Handbag from Miss Selfridge

Tips & Tricks for dressing up in cold weather
Because the dress is so thin and not warm at all, I wore a warm black vest  and a light but warm long sleeves top underneath. If you are dressing up in cold weather, I suggest you to choose thick warm tights. And don't forget to wear a warm vest underneath everything. To keep extra warm while outside I wore 2 scarfs.

And if you are thinking that all this clothes will not make you look attractive, especially since it's Valentine's day and you might want to show some skin, think again. Your hair and makeup, your attitude and confidence, along with nice clothes can make you look great even if you are covering up because of the cold. Plus, it's better to look more conservative that wake up the next morning with a bad cold, or in my case with extra swollen hands.

I want to conclude by sharing my Valentine's day dinner date my husband. The atmosphere was intimate yet entertaining, the food was good although not amazing as usual. I am happy about my outfit, hair and makeup choices. I didn't feel too cold and most important I really enjoyed spending a romantic evening with my husband. Plus, I appreciated the small token which was given to the ladies - a salt and pepper shakers and a heart balloon.

What about you? Did you go out or did you stay home? Share your Valentine's day/night in the comments, if you'd like.

My husband and I spend the afternoon with my parents and sister. We had a nice lunch. We were supposed to have guests over but one of them was very sick so they couldn't make it. Anyway, here is what I wore.

My plain lasagna (I asked my mum to make mine without bechamel and cheese)

The meat my dad filled with love, although he shouldn't have as he is supposed to rest since he ripped a muscle......

How did you spend your first day of this year? You can share it in the comments.

Holiday Outfit 2....A little bit of teal

In my opinion teal is a rich colour. In fact, many wear it for weddings, especially the mother of the bride or groom. Because of this richness I think it makes a great festive colour to incorporate in December outfits. Hence, in this post I am going to show you an outfit with a little bit of teal.....

I am wearing
Black tick tights from a local market
Black flats from New Look
Black elasticated skirt with faux leather panel from Tally Weijl
Teal top from Calliope
Grey waterfall cardigan from Dorothy Perkins
Crystal studs from H&M
On my nails galactic black by Essence

Do you like teal? If yes how do you pair it?

Workout Outfit of the Day + My Routine

Lately I have been loving to wear my husband's athletics tops to exercise. Although they are for men I really love how they look on me, especially on a bright exercise bra like the one I am wearing below. He has them in so many colours, I think I have at least 6 to choose from and since he no longer wears them I am getting a good use out of them (which is great since they are all by expensive sportswear brands and I am sure they were pretty expensive to leave lying in his closet). So here is my workout outfit of the day I wore last Tuesday. For the moment is warm enough because once I start exercising I start getting warmer and I feel comfortable. I am wearing a simple pair of light black leggings and an old pair of Nike trainers which I cannot stop wearing. I have a new pair of Puma trainers in a box but they are not as comfortable as these ones.

If you are wondering, I exercise at home. Hence my simple outfit and no makeup plus ponytail. I love exercising at home because I can do it when I want to and for how long I want to and then I quickly pop into the shower and I can start or continue with my day without the need to waist time driving or catching the bus.

This was my workout routine on Tuesday:
10 minutes cross training +

What about you, did you workout on Tuesday?

Leather leggings: Casual Chic OOTD

Black leather leggings are one of my favourite piece for the Fall. They are the easiest way know to make your outfit look edgy instantly by just wearing them. The way you pair them can help you achieve different styles from classic chic like my outfit in this post, hard rock (by going totally black and wearing lots of studded heavy chained pieces), as well as more dressier options by pairing the leggings with a nice blouse and coat. One of the criteria which makes this piece look great is a great fit. As you can see in the pictures below, my leather leggings are not the perfect fit for me since they are very lose around my knees and they are not completely fitted around my ankles either. This was my first pair and I liked them so much they I didn't pay enough attention to those details. I will definitely be investing in a better pair of leather pants (not leggings) within this Fall and Winter and I will make sure they fit like a glove.

Anyway, below is my outfit of the day which I wore for a morning of errands and shopping. Since it was a Saturday I wanted to look put together and chic while also feeling comfortable and being on the casual side.

I am Wearing:
Black leather leggings (faux leather) from Zara
Black patent flat pumps from New Look
Oatmeal colour short sleeve top from New Look
Charcoal grey blazer from Bershka
Black handbag (a gift from my sister)
Gold bow studs from Tally Weijl
Gold pendant necklace from Accessorize

Do you love leather leggings? If yes, how do you like to wear them?

Long Cardigan for Fall: Same Cardigan 2 Outfits

Although I hate feeling cold, I must admit that Fall and Winter clothing is more exciting than Summer ones. Or at least there is more room for playing around with different combinations with same pieces of clothes. Cardigans are a great staple in Fall and Winter wardrobes because they can act as light coats during Fall and be used to layer under coats during Winter. In this post I want to share with you how I styled the same cardigan in 2 different ways.

The first outfit which I wore at the end of October has more warm colours. Although the cardigan and shoes are the same in both outfit 1 and 2, the complete look is way different. In this first outfit, I decided to add a pop of colour with the coral top which  complemented well the tan handbag. For my makeup I also used warm shades. Here I am wearing: blue jeans from Centro Moda; coral top from Sicily market; Tan handbag from Mango Dubai; Grey flats from Sicily market; beige cardigan from a local shop.

My second pairing is way cooler and calmer in terms of the colours used. I really like this outfit and how all the colours go well together without being loud. I also like how this wide blouse (pregnancy looking top) goes under the cardigan and looks balanced. This in my opinion is a safe colour combination. While this look is not monochromatic or boring, is much easier to wear if you are afraid of bright colours. In such case the bright colour can be the white blouse. Here I am wearing: light blue jeans from Stradivarius; same shoes and cardigan as above; white top from Bossini; light pink scarf from OVS; handbag from Sicily market.

Do you love long cardigans? Or do you prefer shorter ones?
