Valentine's Day Outfit of the Night

I love Valentine's day, not that I need a particular day to celebrate the relationship with my husband, but because dining out is super romantic with all the hearts, balloons, candles, roses and other red decoration details. I also love getting dressed up-wearing a nice dress, taking longer to do my makeup and hair and sharing my outfit with you. The one thing that I hate about Valentine's day is the weather. Here in Malta, mid February is the coldest period of the year. And my hands are usually swollen with chilblains around this time. Because the cold weather makes dressing up so difficult, especially when wearing a light dress, I want to share my tricks to keeping warm even on Valentine's day while still looking feminine and put together. This OOTD follows my Valentine's Date Night Inspiration Post.

I am wearing:
Black dress from Zara (I bought this last week during the sales)
Black suede pumps from Gallaria Darmanin
Black thick tights (with warm lining inside) from a local market
Black coat from Stradivarius
Gold and brown scarf (a gift from Uk)
Black scarf from a random local shop
Crystal stud earrings from H&M
Gold Necklace from Accessorize
Michael Kors Watch Darci
Handbag from Miss Selfridge

Tips & Tricks for dressing up in cold weather
Because the dress is so thin and not warm at all, I wore a warm black vest  and a light but warm long sleeves top underneath. If you are dressing up in cold weather, I suggest you to choose thick warm tights. And don't forget to wear a warm vest underneath everything. To keep extra warm while outside I wore 2 scarfs.

And if you are thinking that all this clothes will not make you look attractive, especially since it's Valentine's day and you might want to show some skin, think again. Your hair and makeup, your attitude and confidence, along with nice clothes can make you look great even if you are covering up because of the cold. Plus, it's better to look more conservative that wake up the next morning with a bad cold, or in my case with extra swollen hands.

I want to conclude by sharing my Valentine's day dinner date my husband. The atmosphere was intimate yet entertaining, the food was good although not amazing as usual. I am happy about my outfit, hair and makeup choices. I didn't feel too cold and most important I really enjoyed spending a romantic evening with my husband. Plus, I appreciated the small token which was given to the ladies - a salt and pepper shakers and a heart balloon.

What about you? Did you go out or did you stay home? Share your Valentine's day/night in the comments, if you'd like.

Valentine's Perugina Chocolate & Chinese Cherries Cookies.

Believe it or not, in less than a week it will already be Valentine's day. It seems like Christmas and New Year was last week, yet so much time has already passed. And we are ready to celebrate this romantic day with our loved one. If you are looking for a sweet treat to share with your partner on Valentine's day or during the pre-Valentine weekend here is a recipe I tried few weeks ago which is perfect for this time of the year. It features chocolate and cherries on top of some heart shaped cookies. Perfect!

Ingredients

Preparation
This recipe is super easy if you have some leftover cookie pastry. I used the pastry left from my Christmas mince pies, which I had stored in my freezer. And these cookies turned lovely.
  1. Make the pastry following my recipe
  2. Cut your heart shaped cookies.
  3. Bake them for few minutes (about 10 or less)
  4. Top each cookie with small pieces of chocolate and few cherries.
  5. Bake for 2 minutes or so until the chocolate melts.
  6. Let them cool and they are ready to eat.
If you are looking for a healthier Valentine's treat, which is especially great for a healthy Valentine's day breakfast, check this banana bread recipe.
