How to wear a little red dress........

Hello everyone,

I hope you had and/or you are still having a nice valentine's day (for those of you who live in US). Mine was very nice too. I spent it with my handsome and sweet husband, and it was our first one as a married couple. We went out shopping in the late morning and afternoon; and then went for dinner in the evening. Later we exchanged a couple of small gifts. What about you, how did you spend it?

It is now too late for "a what to wear for Valentine's" post. So, I thought about this post: "How to wear a little red dress" for those of you who want to wear a red dress and are wondering how to style it. I am also going to post a makeup tutorial for a look which goes well with a red dress.

First of all I want to say that anyone can wear a red dress and feel great in it, no matter the colour of your hair, your skin tone and your dress size. If you don't believe me, you can see it below.

The second point I want to emphasize is that a red dress is already a big statement piece. For this reason, it should be styled cautiously. In my opinion, less is better when it comes to accessorizing a red dress. Now of course, it all depends for what event you are wearing your red dress and what type of dress you have. In this post I am refering to a simple silk tunic red dress like the one which Mandy Moore is wearing above. You can certainly apply this look to any other red dress which has a modern and simple style.

Let's starts from tights. What colour should you wear? You can either wear skin colour or black tights. And in the case of black tights, they can can be dark and opaque or sheer depending on whether you want a more modern or classic look. (Mandy Moore inspired style)
How do you choose between the three options for tights? Well if you want to look modern yet classic, and you are going for that chic look, you should wear skin colour and then you can play more with you accessories. If you want to keep it plain in terms of accessories, but want to look put together for that classic look with a modern touch then wear sheer black tights. Finally, if you want to rock your red dress for a fun night out with the girls or with your loved one then wear black opaque tights.

Accessories. As I already said, less is more when it comes to a red dress. And I would definitely go with black to make the look more modern or else nude/beige to make it more soft and romantic.
If you decide to go with black wear black pumps, black stud earrings, a simple black bracelet and a long black necklace to make your simple red dress pop a little bit more. Or else you can skip the necklace and wear bigger earrings and bracelet. Pair this look with a little big clutch or even a bigger one if you are going for simpler earrings, bracelet and necklace.

For a soft romantic look, you can wear your red dress with nude pumps and cream/beige or even slightly pink golden accessories. But still keep it simple: either big earrings and big bracelet or small earrings and bracelet and a statement necklace.

Belts. You can also replace your necklace with a tiny waist belt either black or nude depending on which colour you have chosen for you accessorize. This will make the look modern but still chic.

Outerwear. You can wear a blazer if you want to keep the look more modern and less romantic. Wear it black with your black accessories and nude with your nude accessories. But you can also wear it black with beige accessories to balance the soft look and make it a bit bolder.
If you want more coverage for a cold weather or if you want to look more elegant go for a coat. Black could be worn also if you have chosen beige accessories. Again cream will give you a more soft romantic look, but be careful not to make the look too soft almost boring. If you go for everything nude you want to be balancing the overall look with some bolder accessories like some golden ones.

STAY FAB
