Denim - Spring Summer 2013

Denim is the one item which never goes out of style. Hence, we can always wear it - morning and evening as well as Summer and Winter. However, one can still purchase denim pieces which are more suitable for warmer months and others which are best worn during Fall and Winter. In this post I want to share with you my favourite denim pieces for this Spring and Summer. 

In terms of denim trends for this season I would say that apart from the usual blue denim -whether light or dark wash- coloured denim is very in. It has been popular for several seasons. You can opt for pastel coloured denim or brighter denim. Another denim trend which is big this season is printed denim -floral, polka dots, ethnic prints were seen on the runway but can also be found in most High Street shops.

Christian Dior Fall 2012 Inspired Outfit

Reviewing my favourite Runway Collections for the coming seasons certainly helped me getting loads of inspiration for my outfits. Most of the times I actually put together an outfit without thinking about it too much and then I realize that without knowing it I have actually recreated (or at least in part) a Runway look I liked. This is exactly what happened with this outfit which I wore for Notte Bianca in Valletta, Malta which is a cultural event that takes place every year on a night between September and October in the capital city of the island. Museums, exhibitions, palaces and other cultural attractions open to the public at no charge and there are fairs, bands and lots of food and most most shops remain open till late. This year was actually my first time attending since I do not like being among big crowds and I wanted to look put together and elegant but also comfortable. Below is what I wore.

 Please do not mind the magazine paper under my shoes. I don't like to wear my shoes indoors (when I have not cleaned their bottoms, and cleaning them each time I wear them results in ruining them).

I went for a black cigarette pants, a muted pink t shirt with lace sleeves and black patent flat pumps for extra comfort (since the night involved lots of walking). I finished the look with a black skinny belt and some silver accessories. I wore my black tote which I have reviewed here. This outfit colours remind me of Christian Dior Fall Winter 2012 2013 Ready to Wear collection which includes lots of black, grey and muted pinks, lilac and dark maroons. Christian Siriano Fall Winter 2012 2013

One last stylist I want to feature in this series of fall Winter Runway Fashion Collections Reviews is Christian Siriano. Initially, when I first watched the fashion show I said to myself the collection was nice but had nothing new or really interesting which could make it better than many others. After looking at each look attentively, I actually realized that the simplicity of this collection is what makes it distinctive. Many of the stylists I featured in the past weeks were loud in terms of the bright coloured used or else they were not always very wearable either because their looks were a little bit out of time like Burberry, or too ladylike like Erdem or too high end like Ellie Saab. Although I love these collections and that's why I chose to review them, I want to end this series of Runway fashion posts with a stylist which is offering a more wearable collection which is still classic, feminine, tasteful, modern and simple. 

And by the way this series is not completely over. I will still be talking about runway, but more specifically! So if you like this kind of posts stay tune for more every Sunday.

Highlights of Runway Fashion FW 2012-2013

If you follow my blog, you'll know that for the past few weeks I have been posting reviews of my favourite Runway Collections for the coming Fall and Winter 2012 2013. I have covered Burberry, Erdem, Rebecca Minkoff,  Max Mara, Elie Saab, Jill Stuart and Rebecca Taylor. Normally, I am more attracted by the classic stylists like Chanel, Christian Dior and Versace. This time I was surprised to like the relatively new stylists more than the classic ones.

In order to make my Runway Fashion Review more complete for the coming season and to cover those collections which many of you might actually like for next Fall and Winter, I am going to feature 5 more stylists in this post and share with you my opinions on their collections and favourite looks. These are Chanel, Christian Dior, Cacharel, Matthew Williamson and Calvin Klein. 

The above 5 looks are the only ones I liked from the entire Chanel Collection. My favourite details of this collection were definitely the glittery sparkly fabrics used and the structured sometimes boxy coats. The rest of the collection was too exagerated for me both in terms of layering, colours and embellishments.

The above 7 looks are my only favourites from Christian Dior FW 2012-13. These to me are the most modern edgy looking ones. While the others are too lady like, sometimes boring, blunt and repetitive.

I surprisingly really like this Cacharel Collection. It's fun, colourful and very interesting. And the tights are amazing. However, I think that most of the looks are not really wearable at least for the era we are living into. Above are my favourite looks. I featured the first 2 for the beautiful tights and the last 2 are actually wearable.

Again, the above one is a very pretty collection. The colours, details and lines are very feminine yet modern. Although the collection is colourful and presents lots of details, it is wearable. I would say it's a little bit extravagant and not what we are used to wear in the colder months. The only reason I didn't feature Matthew Williamson in my top favourite collections is because the full fashion show wasn't available online.

Although I really like the above 8 looks, I find the rest of Calvin Klein Fall Winter 2012 2013 Collection not interesting and pretty boring in its lines.

Rebecca Taylor.....Fall Winter 2012 2013 Runway

This collection is very interesting. It combines edginess with a tomboy attitude to make the looks relaxed and comfortable, especially with the fur boots, while still keeping it stylish. The colours are gorgeous blues, plums, greys and black. The effortless look is expressed well with the messy hair and fresh face. However, we can still find very feminine and put together outfits. My favourite looks are included in this post. I really like the wide leg plum pants paired with a sort of peplum top. 

The looks within this collection are a little bit complicated to recreate using more budget friendly pieces. The reason is that although the style is quiet relaxed, the pieces used are very intricate in their details. However, look 2, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are a little bit easier to put together.
