How can I stop eating junk food?, ask Alessia.

Hello,

First of all, what is junk food?

As you can see above, junk food includes all fast food (Pizza Hut, McDonald's, KFC, Burger King....), candies, chocolates crisps, doughnuts, ice cream, biscuits, cakes, soft drinks/sodas, pizza, beer and alcohol which are full of empty calories that is calories that will make you fat but will not give the nutrition your body needs.

Let's start from here......WHY DO YOU EAT JUNK FOOD?

1. Because you like it.
2. Because it is a quick, easy and cheap fix.
3. Because you don't know what else to eat.

DO YOU REALLY LIKE JUNK FOOD?

1. Why eat something full of calories which tastes bad?
2. Don't you hate the taste of fried oil?
3. Does junk food really fill you? Don't you feel very full after eating and then get suddenly hungry after few hours?
4. Do you really prefer some packed cakes or biscuits to your grandma freshly baked cake?


There was a period in my life when I used to eat some junk food too. I used to love McDonalds, Pizza Hut, chocolates (twix, kit kat, snickers, M&Ms, cadbury), crisps (walkers, cheese popcorn, and others which I totally forgot about now), packed cakes, spunches and biscuits. I used to drink coke and other soft drinks too. Once I started looking at the calories each of the above had and understanding how bad it was for my health, I realized that most of those things could be replaced with something as tasty but much much healthier.


DO YOU THINK YOU COULD REPLACE JUNK FOOD WITH THE FOOD BELOW?







I give you my world that the above food is as tasty as the junk food you are used to. These meals provide you with a healthy alternative to junk food. They are not full of oils, bad sugars and empty calories which will make you fat and not fill you up. They still represent the comfort food you like, but have far fewer calories and offer some nutrition too.

They are not the healthiest option (like soups, stews, salads, poultry/fish and meat, vegetables and fruit) but they offer you an easy way to move from junk food to healthy food.

SO WHAT SHOULD YOU DO TO STOP EATING JUNK FOOD?

1. Realize that what you are eating right now is unhealthy but also not tasty! You still haven't tasted the real yummy food! So there's nothing to be sad about.

2. Don't worry if you don't know where to start. Cooking healthy meals is easy and also fun. There are many websites and blogs which offer healthy and tasty recipes.

3.Start making a list of the food you like to eat. Next, find a healthy way to recreate that food. For example, the above burger is still a burger but a much healthier one.

4. Make a list of the ingredients you need to prepare your healthy meals. Go buy them.

6. Slowly, you can start introducing healthier foods like soups, vegetables, stews and others. 

Taking this path, you will arrive at a point where the healthier the food the more you will like it. It happened to me. It can happen to you. You have to want it, though. DO YOU WANT IT?

  1. I REALLY love this post. food is a HUGE part of my life. Not gonna lie... I still have a meal or two at a fast food joint but I do most of my cooking from home and when you know what is going into your food you tend to eat healthier! Im constantly trying to find ways to encourage people to learn to cook. love your blog!

    1. Good for you. However, you can always try to eat healthier types of junk food every now and then, or recreate them yourself at home. Life is too short not to enjoy what you like. As long as you do it in moderation, it will be fine. Keep up the good work. And thanks for sharing this comment.
