Healthy Meal Plan......Saturday

And here comes another Saturday, I must say a pretty one, considering the fact it's very sunny here in Malta. I am sure most of you are excited for the weekend and here in Malta we have a long one since Monday is a public feast. But it might not be as fun for all of you who are out there following a diet even today that it's a Saturday. But don't lose hope. You will get your rewards.......
I have been there, dieting day by day, with no breaks (not even on Saturday and Sunday). And this is necessary if you are at the beginning of a diet or you still need to lose a lot. The key is to eat healthy meals containing few calories but finding the way to still enjoy what you are eating, especially if it's a Saturday. However, since I am no longer on a diet I can treat myself to something special on Saturday. For this reason, this post is going to be somewhat different than the other healthy meal plan posts as it will feature what I ate and  what I would suggest you to eat if you are on a diet and need to watch your calories......

BREAKFAST
For breakfast I had my usual which you can see here http://alessiapearl.blogspot.com/2012/01/healthy-meal-planmonday.html. I also added some jam, which I would suggest you to avoid if you are on a diet since it's simple sugar.

LUNCH
My lunch was super yummy as it featured one of my favourites sauces Tikka Masala. I had it with chicken and lots of veggies as well as some pita bread. You can follow my simple recipe here http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/2012/03/easy-chicken-tikka-masala.html.

For those of you who are on a diet, I suggest you to make Tikka Masala sauce yourself to lower the calories and make it a healthier meal and also skip both the potatoes and the pita bread. When I was dieting I stayed away from carbohydrates as much as I could and this was what enabled me to reach my weight goals. Don't worry, as once you reach those goals you will be able to reintroduce carbohydrates in your diet as long as you watch the amount you eat and keep exercising.

If you would rather eat something else than make the sauce yourself, here are some OTHER OPTIONS FOR YOUR SATURDAY LUNCH......

  1. Soya Chunks Stir Fry http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/2012/03/soya-chunks-stir-frya-vegetarian-dairy.html
  2. Fish with Homemade Tartare Sauce http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/2011/11/fish-with-tartare-sauceon-sunday.html (Use yogurt instead of mayonnaise).
  3. Honey Beef Stew http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/2011/11/honey-beef-stew-sweet-genuine.html
  4. Chicken Zucchini White Parmigiana http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/2011/02/chicken-zucchini-white-parmigiana.html
  5. Baked Vegetables Frittata  http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/2011/10/what-i-ate-for-lunchoctober-9-2011.html

DINNER
If you have read my previous Meal Plan Posts you would already know that my dinner is actually a snack as my lunch is my main meal. Even during the weekend I like to have my main meal for lunch and then in the evening have a sweet treat (normally something I freshly bake that same day). Tonight, I will make crispy cake crepes with an orange sauce. You can check my food blog http://alessiascues.blogspot.com/ tomorrow as it should be already there by then.

If you are on a diet do yourself a favour and have a salad and some fruit. You will have the rest of your life to eat dessert......

AND DON"T FORGET TO EXERCISE..............YES, EVEN ON SATURDAY!
