Having smooth legs never was something easy for me. I always wondered how women on TV got such perfect looking legs. During my adolescence I started hair removal using a razor, which is still for many a very common way to remove body hair today. And I must admit that I didn't do it in the perfect way. I was not using a shaving gel but my regular shower gel and I did not exfoliate and moisturize. Only recently I started using body lotion and exfoliating products. I went though periods of using waxing strips, epilating creams and foams and I also bought an electric epilator. However, none of these methods worked well for my skin. In fact, all of them including the razor irritated my skin creating not only dry skin but also skin rashes which took very long to heal. Even after one year of professional waxing I still had the same problems. However, today my legs are doing better. They are finally smooth and soft like baby skin and they only get slightly irritated after waxing for about 1 day or 2.
Here is the magic routine (at least for me).....
- I use daily a homemade sugar scrub (I will soon be posting the sugar scrub recipe)
- I also use an exfoliating sponge for my showers
- I moisturize daily my skin with Vaseline Cocoa Butter Deep Conditioning body lotion
- And I have my hair removed only through professional wax (without raisin).
Thanks to this new routine which I have been using for more than 4 months now, I have also seen a reduction in ingrown hair. If you have a problem with ingrown hair you will know how unbearable it can be since they tend to lead to red bumps which sometimes go below the skin and become very painful. What is worst is that they can also turn into cysts. VERY IMPORTANT! If you have this problem stop wearing (or at least reduce it) tight skinny jeans because this might be the actual trigger, at least in my case it is. In fact, during this summer I never wore jeans and I had no new ingrown hair, whereas now that I have started wearing them again I have developed one on each bikini line side in just 1 week.
