Floral Maxi Dress Outfit.

In this post I wanted to share with you how I wore my only maxi dress. The main reason for only having one maxi dress is that I have heard many people saying that these can make you look shorter and I am already super short. To be sincere, though, I never feel any shorter when I wear my maxi dress. It might be the empire style it has which actually elongates my lower body. And what is great is that it covers my very short bottom part of my legs. However, this dress make me feel pregnant which is not a bad thing. I just think that empire style clothes are great for maternity. I actually would like to own more maxi dressed, but being short is very difficult finding one which has the right length for me. All the maxi dresses I have seen so far this Summer look extremely tall, sometimes they make me doubt that anyone could actually be that tall. That's why most of them are still lying in the shops, even now that Summer is almost finished. Anyway, below is how I wore my maxi dress.

I wore my maxi dress with my new pink wedges featured in this Summer Haul Part 2. The wedge gave me extra height and made it easier to walk in the dress without tripping into it. I wore it with a high bun for that boho chic look and paired it with some white flower studs and a white and purple bracelet. The handbag was the best option I found in my closet. However, it's not a favourite of mine.

The best thing about maxi dresses is that they are great for those period when you are waiting for your hair to grow a little in order to be able to wax it. I rarely wear short skirts and dresses because I hate showing legs unless my skin is completely hair free. Even the tiniest invisible short hair bothers me. But since I wax at a professional salon, I have to wait a little in between waxed both for the hair to grow and also because it can be quiet expensive.

How I Store my Makeup: Small Makeup Collection Organization

I have seen various videos as well as pictures of makeup storage to inspire my own makeup organization. I have thought about plastic drawers and cute storage boxes among other options. However, when it comes to my makeup, being something I use several times a week, I want it to be in a place very handy and accessible to me. I want all my makeup to be stored together in the same place so as to be visible whenever I am using it. This way I will be able to make use of each and every makeup item I own and nothing will go wasted because I forgot about it.

Since we moved in our current apartment I have slowly started to grow my makeup collection. And when it came to organizing it, I was immediately drawn to the set of drawers in our master bedroom. I decided to use the first drawer for my jewellery and the second for my makeup. Below you can see pictures of my makeup collection, and how I store each makeup category in this single drawer. 

Going from left to right, I have some extra things like makeup brushes cases, makeup sponges and samples at the back together with my Pupa makeup palette (which my mum gave me several years ago and although I do not use it I like to keep it because it's in the shape of a cute angel). I keep my few perfumes which I no longer use (because of my fragrance intolerance) at the back of the drawer. I have few papers, leaflets and a notebook all related to makeup at the left side. Next is this pink container which holds my sun lotion, my current foundation, my nail polish remover and a random hair product together with my manicure tools, a pocket mirror and a makeup case.

At the centre of the drawer I have my BC eye shadows palette together with my lip products and behind these my eye pencils and mascara.

On the right side of the drawer I like to store all of my face products like concealer, blushes, bronzer and powder as well as all of my eye shadows. Above are the products I used most often.

Below them is a small plastic container holding the rest of my eye shadows which I use every now and then. I like to keep all of my makeup into clear containers. Just few days ago I have replaced some plastic containers with glass ones. They look nicer and are definitely more solid and durable, which is important since I like to wash them quiet often.

And finally, but certainly not least, in the right corner are my nail polishes. I am thinking of taking them out and storing them on a nice white porcelain plate on top of my set of drawers. But I have to make sure I will have enough space left to do my makeup. At the moment, I am storing my clear nail polishes including nail treatments and top coats on top of my set of drawers together with a small mirror and few other ornaments as you can see below.

The one missing thing are my makeup brushed which I am currently washing. Once they are clean and dry I will be storing them in front of my lip products, next to my big makeup palette.

How to get MORE CLOSET SPACE?

Shopping can be exciting and fun, especially during the sales. If you like hauls you can check my last one here. However, the problem at least for most women with a limited closet space is where to put the new clothes without necessarily following that rule of getting rid of one old clothing item for each new one. So the excitement and fun can quickly turn into a nightmare if you don't have any more storage but you don't like to live in a messy disorganized house.

This is a problem I have been experiencing for more than 1 year now. I have tried to solve it by getting rid of old clothes every season. But since most of my clothes are recent purchases, because I had to purchase a lot in the last few years after losing weight, I do not have any old clothes to get rid of. The next way I actually got some extra closet space is by replacing thick clothes hangers with thin ones. And although this worked for a while, now I am at a point where I have bought some new blazers and I have no space where to hang them. Plus, those thick hangers I have told you to get rid of are the best option to keep your coats, jackets and blazer in a nice shape. So I prefer sacrificing some extra space to keep my clothes in the best shape possible. 

Since I don't like to squash my clothes against the other I have decided to actually get more physical space. Few months ago I have purchased a white storage trunk for only 15 euros. It came in a flat pack and my husband and I put it together in few hours. I really enjoy doing this kind of work and it was a great bargain and also not too time consuming. The final step I have actually taken to get more actual storage space is to free a corner of my house and use it for a new portable closet I got few days ago. It was only 21 euros and it provides me with some good extra hanging space which is my main problem area. I have a good amount of shelves and drawers but I am always lacking hanging space. Although I have 2 separate 47 inches wardrobes, the actual hanging space I have is about 70 inches wide. And I am that kind of person who likes to hang most types of garments from tank tops to shirts and t shirts but also trousers and skirts and of course blazers, jackets and coats. If I had the space I would also hang my denim pants.

It is nicely hidden behind the door.

To summarize these are the three easy steps I advice you to follow if you need more closet space:

1. Get rid of clothing items which are either old, too large or too small or which you do not like any more.
2. Replace your thick hangers (except for your nicer coats and jackets) with thinner ones.
3. Look out for new storage pieces like trunks, sets of drawers, or actual closets whether in fabric or in wood which are on offer. Sometimes, you might think you don't have the space where to put a new storage piece but if you look attentively you might find an area in your house you are currently misusing.
