FALL WINTER 2012 2013 HAIR TRENDS

Your hair style, is in my opinion an extremely personal choice. It must first of all suit your face shape, your lifestyle and also makes you feel comfortable and looking good. Only after having met these criteria you should care about whether a hairstyle is fashionable or not. Unlike clothes, shoes, accessories and makeup I think hair is less affected by trends and more by your own style. Of course, there will be times when certain hair cuts or styles will be totally on trend and others when they will be completely out of style. In such a case, you should stay away from the ones totally out of fashion and get inspired by those which are currently on trend. However, keep in mind that changing your hair drastically is not as easy as changing your fashion style or your makeup. While hair changes are more permanent and take longer to be modified, experimenting with clothes and makeup is easy because it can be as temporary as you like it to be. After this long introduction, I want to share with you the main hair trends I have been noticed on the Runway for this Fall and Winter 2012 2013.

HAIR TREND 1: SLEEK HAIR PULLED BACK
This is the hair trend I have seen the most on the runway. Whether side parted, centre parted or with no parting at all, sleek pushed back hair is very fashionable this year. You can opt for ponytails, buns or other updos. Stylists which presented this hair style on the runway include Chanel, Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Cacharel and Bottega Veneta.

HAIR TREND 2: CENTRE PARTED SOFT LONG HALF UPDO
Whether your hair is naturally long or you own some hair extensions, long low ponytails with a central parting which are softly tied rather than tightly pulled back, as in the first trend, are also popular this Fall and Winter. Instead of a simple low ponytail, you can also opt for a half updo like the one on Christian Siriano runway which involves tying back the hair on both sides (always with a central parting) and using a special comb clip to fasten both sides. Another similar half updo was also seen throughout Gucci's collection.

HAIR TREND 3: NATURAL HAIR
If your hair looks great without too much effort, you should opt for more natural styles like the ones presented by Burberry, Chloe and  Jill Stuart .

HAIR TREND 4: SIDE PARTED MESSY HAIR
Both Rebecca Taylor and Rebecca Minkoff had their models wear side parted messy hair. While Taylor's hair style is more lose at the back, Minkoff chose a side messy bun.

HAIR TREND 6: STRAIGHT SHORT BANGS
Both Elie Saab and Versace featured this hair trend on their Runway. It was polished, straight and very edgy.

Which is your favourite hair trend from the ones I have listed above? I like trends 1, 2 and 5. Feel free to mention other hair trends in the comments below.
