FALL WINTER 2012 2013 SHOES TRENDS

Shoes are very important in an outfit, so important that they can actually change the tone of a look from casual to edgy to elegant. The right shoes make you look more put together and stylish and make the entire outfit more appealing. In this post I am going to share the main shoe trends for the coming seasons. Knowing what is fashionable might encourage you to wear the shoes you already own if they follow one of the trends below but also give you a guide on what you should buy for this Fall and Winter. And of course if you don't like to follow trends feel absolutely free to wear whatever kind of shoes you prefer.

1. CHUNKY HEELS & PLATFORMS
These come in both rounded (Michael Kors) and pointed (Rodarte) versions. The ones by Michael Kors remind me of the school girls shoes one used to wear with the uniform. Of course these are emphasized because they have the high heel and platform which you wouldn't wear to school. But I think that they are great if you want to achieve that preppy school girl look for Fall and Winter, especially if you wear them with wool socks.

2. ANKLE STRAP SHOES
From sandals, to peep toe shoes, to closed pumps and even booties ankle straps are very in this Fall and Winter. They can be very feminine, smart looking but also pretty edgy. Elie Saab, Michael Kors, Rebecca Taylor and Max Mara are few of the stylists which presented these on the runway.

3. T SHAPED STRAP
This is another very popular kind of ankle fastener for the coming seasons. Chanel, Elie Saab and Micheal Kors (see image above) are few examples.

4. LACY BOOTS
This is the perfect trend for the romantic ladies who love rich and super detailed accessories including shoes. Dolce Gabbana featured lots of lacy and flower embroidered boots which went well with the very rich collection. Other examples of lacy shoes

5. FUR SHOES
Similar to the handbag trend, fur is also popular on shoes. If you are brave enough to pull this trend it is definitely a great way to be fashionable and keep yourself warm during the colder months. Rebecca Taylor, andAlexander Mc Queen presented shoes, booties and boots featuring lots of fur.

6. LOAFERS & OXFORDS
These slightly masculine shoes seem to be on trend this Fall and Winter too. I am really glad about this trend because I love my tan oxford booties so much and I am looking forward to may be buying a new pair. The stylists listed below presented various types of loafers and oxfords from flat to heel ones, pointed, rounder, slightly square and also metallic and embellished. My favourite is the second and third one in the image below just with a lower  heel and no embellishments.

7. PRINTED & TEXTURED SHOES
This trend is ideal for those women who like their shoes to be as interesting as their clothes. I personally prefer the textured ones to the printed ones, at least for the colder seasons. Kenzo, Fendi and Preen are few of the stylists who presented this kind of shoes. My favourite between the 3 booties below are definitely the tweed shoes by Kenzo. They are textured and detailed and the tweed fabric is perfect for the colder months, yet they are elegant and not too overdone.

8. METALLIC HEEL & SHOES
Metal silver and gold are very popular tints for shoes but also heels.

Philip Lim, Rodarte and Manolo Blahnik

Finally but certainly not least over the knee boots, platforms and flatforms are still on trend this Fall and Wnter 2012 2013.

Let me know in the comments below which of the above trend is your favourite?

STAY FAB
