Year after year we get to enjoy this magical time of the year - the holiday season. Christmas not only gives us an opportunity to be with the people we love in a warm and cosy atmosphere but also enables us to be creative and free to dream and feel like little kids surrounded by the magical atmosphere which all the lights and decorations help create.
If you too get easily bored and like to switch things up, you also like to change your Christmas decor from year to year. One year you might want to for the Traditional Christmas Theme, the next year you might opt for Cooler and more Contemporary Tones and the year after you might want to change it all up. This is exactly how I usually roll, and when November starts I start getting into the mood for researching all about new Christmas Decorations Ideas. It is through the online research and Windows shopping that I normally get all the inspiration I need to come up with my Christmas decor theme. And as always I like to share the inspiration I get with all of you.
For this year's decor my favourite inspiration sources are the following:
1. Leroy Merlin
2. Marks & Spencer
3. Pottery Barn
4. John Lewis
My favourite themes for this year holiday decor are the Vintage Market, Rural Life and the Nostalgic Theme. In my opinion the soft dusty pinks and lilac shades are perfect for decorating bedrooms. For my living room, however, I am really liking the other 2 themes because of the berry, plum and rose gold accents. Other details which I plan to incorporate include the newspaper and brown paper wrapping, the deeply coloured apples and the plum punch. All these details mixed together with warm lights, blood orange hues and a hint of dusty violet are going to make the perfect theme for my home Christmas decor 2013.
Now that I have a specific decor theme in mind, the next step is to go window shopping so as to confirm or tweak the theme I am liking. After that I will shop in my own Christmas ornaments cabinets and select the items which I can re-use to put together this year's Christmas theme. During this process I will take note of must have pieces I am missing and once I get my hands on these pieces I will be ready to decorate my home for the magical season. Once it's ready I promise to post pictures on my blog. Until then I wish you all a happy Christmas countdown!
Update: Below is a collage featuring images of my living room decor inspired by the above theme. I decided to post these here rather than writing a separate post. The only pieces I bought this year are purple, burgundy and wine flowers. I also bought two sets of plum decorations for my tree and a small purple and bronze ornament for my coffee tables. I am still looking for plum kitchen towels and may be a nicer centrepiece for my dining table. Are you done with your decor? Share your answers and decor pictures in the comments below.
