Cotton Candy at Eiffel Tower by Catrice

While I am definitely a natural makeup look lover, be it on the face or or my nails, I also think wearing nude nails is appropriate when going for a very bright outfit (unless you want to go for colour blocking). Since Spring and Summer are all about pastel and bright clothes, nude nails seem very popular on this season runway. While Loewe paired nude nails with darker colours and Max Mara with nude, khaki and brown shades, De La Renta contrasted the brighter clothes with some cream nails (see images below).

What about you, do you like nude nails? Or do you prefer brighter shades?

How to wear a military shirt....Spring 2013

Before going onto some inspiration looks to help you decide how to wear your military shirt, here is an OOTD I wore yesterday which also features a military shirt. While mine has short sleeves the military shirts ones in the examples below are all long sleeved. I opted for a casual look and I kept the colours on the darker side. My only pop of colour came from my coral top and my nails which you can see here

I am wearing....
Black skinny trousers from Zara, coral sleeveless top from Calliope, brown military shirt from Terranova, brown trainer pumps from Sicily market, gold heart stud earrings from Tally Weijl, and black shoulder bag from Stradivarius.

Below are a good number of looks featuring a military shirt. Some of them include dresses and others are styled around jeans and trousers. Let me know in the comments below which look is your favourite and also how you like to wear your military shirts.

Spring Work look 4

This week work look is fresh, young and very Spring appropriate both in terms of the soft colours and the floral print. It's a great work look for the office as well as for doctors, teachers, artists and entrepreneurs. It's easy to put together and is also quiet comfortable with trousers instead of a skirt and with the relatively low heel. If you like this look make sure to check out Look 1, Look 2 and Look 3.

How to wear a floral dress.....Spring 2013

Floral prints have been popular for quiet a while, and yet they don't seem to be going out of fashion any time soon. Trousers, tops, skirts, shorts, dresses, shoes and also accessories can all be found in a floral print this season. So if you have floral pieces from last Summer feel free to wear them this season too. However, until the weather gets warmer you might want to layer your lighter floral pieces, including your dresses. This is what I am going to show you in this post. A floral dress can be dressed up and dressed down. Depending on the quality of its fabric, the colours, and the style of the dress it might be more suitable for casual wearing. But you can always try to dress it up with a pair of heels and a nice clutch. For a more casual look you can layer your floral dress under a cotton blazer, or even wear it with a light knitted top or a cardigan, and pair it with some cute flats and a shoulder handbag. Below is a collection of images showing how I would wear my two floral dresses for a casual morning.

Below are some examples of floral dresses I spotted on the Runway for this Spring and Summer 2013.

Coral Trousers: Look 3

This week's coral red trousers pairing is bright, fun and modern. It's perfect for all of you who like to mix brights. While it follows the colour blocking trend, in my opinion is still fresh. The key to achieving a balanced look, when pairing brighter colours together, is in my opinion to have some lighter pieces. Hence my choice to pair the bright coral red trousers and the minty blue blazer with a white shirt, beige sandals and handbag and light gold accessories. Let me know which is your favourite look so far, whether Look 1, Look 2 or today's pairing.

Coral Red Trousers: Look 1

For us petite women finding a pair of trousers which fit well is not always easy. I used to wear pants which would be too lose around my knees. And it would drive me crazy because it wouldn't look put together at all. I still own few pants like that. Lately, however, I have been trying to invest into trousers- not only in terms of money but also time. Trying many pairs until you find the perfect one is essential. And so is accepting the fact that paying a higher price for a good quality pair of trousers is worth the extra money. In the past, I would prefer purchasing several pairs of pants at very low prices. Now, I'd rather have 3 good ones which fit perfectly and are versatile. Good quality trousers, as any other clothing piece, will last longer and can definitely be re-worn the following season. And you can always add to your collection from season to season. When I say good quality I mean Zara quality rather than Stradivarius quality. I am definitely not ready to splurge hundreds of euros on a pair of pants.

While  looking online for a new pair of trousers for this Spring and Summer, I came across a  pair of trousers in coral red by Zara which I am really loving. And since I have mentioned above the importance of buying pieces which are versatile and can be paired in many ways, I want to share with you the 10 different looks I came up with featuring these coral pants. Here is the first look. I will be posting the rest of the looks in the following weeks.

SPRING AT WORK.....Look 1

Spring is here. The days are getting longer and brighter, and the air is much warmer. Finally we can have fun styling outfits without having to cover them up with thick coats and chunky scarfs.Injecting Spring into your looks shouldn't be reserved to the weekends. This Spring you should have fun with your work looks too. This is the first post of my Spring at Work series, which is meant to be an inspiration series for all the women struggling with what to wear on work days.

The first look is going to be a classic one. Black is going to be huge this season, especially for tailored pieces like blazers, trousers and suits. Rather than pairing black with white, which is in my opinion a little bit more modern and Summery, I decided to pair the black blazer from Zara with a textured and highly detailed pair of grey lace pants. Because all the other pieces are black, I think the grey trousers paired with the silver statement necklace give this first work look a very classy chic feel. Combined together these pieces give this look a classic, modern and slightly vintage feel. This first look is the perfect one to transition into Spring.

Most of the above pieces are going to be in my favourites for this season. So keep an eye for my Spring Summer 2013 favourites posts. There will be one for each category (jackets, shoes, tops, .......)

Christian Dior Fall 2012 Inspired Outfit

Reviewing my favourite Runway Collections for the coming seasons certainly helped me getting loads of inspiration for my outfits. Most of the times I actually put together an outfit without thinking about it too much and then I realize that without knowing it I have actually recreated (or at least in part) a Runway look I liked. This is exactly what happened with this outfit which I wore for Notte Bianca in Valletta, Malta which is a cultural event that takes place every year on a night between September and October in the capital city of the island. Museums, exhibitions, palaces and other cultural attractions open to the public at no charge and there are fairs, bands and lots of food and most most shops remain open till late. This year was actually my first time attending since I do not like being among big crowds and I wanted to look put together and elegant but also comfortable. Below is what I wore.

Please do not mind the magazine paper under my shoes. I don't like to wear my shoes indoors (when I have not cleaned their bottoms, and cleaning them each time I wear them results in ruining them).

I went for a black cigarette pants, a muted pink t shirt with lace sleeves and black patent flat pumps for extra comfort (since the night involved lots of walking). I finished the look with a black skinny belt and some silver accessories. I wore my black tote which I have reviewed here. This outfit colours remind me of Christian Dior Fall Winter 2012 2013 Ready to Wear collection which includes lots of black, grey and muted pinks, lilac and dark maroons. If you want to know more about this collection you can read my review here.

I am Wearing:
Black pants from Zara (Summer Sales)
Black flat patent pumps from New Look (Last Summer Sales)
Skinny black belt (came with an old sweater)
Pink t shirt with lace sleeves from Orsay (Summer 2011)
Silver and crystal studs from H&M
Metal and crystal statement necklace from Elle's (Summer Sales)
Silver bracelet from Accessorize (Summer Sales)
Black Tote from Parfois

OCTOBER OUTFITS TO INSPIRE ME

September, as I already said in my September Inspiration Outfits post, is a transition month which ties together 2 great seasons for what concerns Fashion: Summer and Fall.  And being the end and the beginning of both reasons makes it a good time to incorporate different pieces together in terms of colours (you get to play with the Summer brights and pastels as well the darker muted Fall colours), textures and fabrics (from lighter to thicker ones depending on where you live) and of course style and trends (you transition from Summer trends to Fall ones, possibly incorporating the two together). All this mixing together gives you great opportunities to refine your own style and distinguish it from those of others. In Malta we are lucky to have an October which is similar to September for what concerns the weather. It's warm, sometimes a little chilly in the early morning and late night, sometimes it rains but most of the times the Sun is shining. So the same style melange I was talking about for the month of September also applies to October. The only difference for me is that I start incorporating more closed shoes and more cardigans and light jackets and blazers.

Here are my favourite inspiration outfits for the month of October.....

As you can see from the images above, I cannot wait to incorporate more leather in my looks during October. Also I am really looking forward to wear lots of burgundy and maroon clothes as well as start incorporating my short trench jacket. I am also looking forward to use scarfs, light blazers and layer with Summer dresses.

What about you? What will you be wearing this October? Leave your reply as a comment.
