Schonbrunn Vienna ....VIENNA Day 2

One thing I love about European capitals is their mix of history, art and culture with modern lifestyle. While I enjoy shopping a lot, I also love visiting palaces which depict  the story and lives of famous historic people, especially if they have majestic exteriors and royal interiors.

If you too love this type of sightseeing and you find yourself in Vienna, then you must visit Schonbrunn Palace. I suggest you to go on a Sunday, when all shops are closed and the city is quiet. Allow at least 4 hours for this excursion and opt for the Classic Pass which includes an audio guided visit to the palace, as well as free access to the gardens, the maze and labyrinth as well as the Gloriette.

Getting to Schonbrunn from Vienna is so so easy. From your hotel get an underground to Karlsplatz and from there get on the U4 directed towards Hitteldorf and stop at Schonbrunn. You may follow the same directions on your way back, unless you are going somewhere else.

Note that while the classic pass  might involve some waiting it is all worth it as it makes the experience more unique. Once you are ready from the palace move to the gardens, and prepare your camera as this garden with all the trees, fountains, mazes, zoo is spectacular - especially in autumn when the leaves are changing and falling.

Inside the palace you find asmall souvenir shops as well as a cafe and restaurant. Taking photos inside the palace is not allowed. Although everything was expensive I ended up buying a pencil which is really unique and has a sparkly crystal at the end.

As you can see from the pictures I took from the Gloriette while getting to the Gloriette viewing terrace is a little tiring it is definitely worth all the effort.

Another day has gone by in Vienna and here are my reflections about it: 'Today was a great day. We had our first breakfast in the hotel which was delicious, although slightly ruined by an impolite person. The day didn't proceed that well as it was so cold my feet were freezing while waiting to get inside Schonbrunn. However, as soon as we entered the Palace I started enjoying the visit so much that I forgot all about the day's bad start and loved every single minute inside and outside, also thanks to the sun shining and thus warming the cold air as well as my frozen body. In the evening, after all the walking and having had no lunch or snacks, we allowed ourselves to have some McDonalds. We ended the night with a warm shower and one of our favourite You tube shows.'

STAY FAB
