Interview Wear

In this post I would like to share with you few outfits I have put together for few of my interviews. The outfits below are all paired around the same top - a cream lace, slightly peplum top with a dropped waist. I bought this top during the Winter sales; and I immediately thought it would be great for interviews because being very feminine it balances the masculine and structured pieces one tends to wear for an interview, including cigarette pants and tailored blazers in shades of black and grey.

While I am wearing the same top and the same bag, except for the last look, each outfit has a different feel. The first one is put together and quiet corporate, but it can be a great look for academic and administrative job interviews. The second look is more modern and to me is the perfect outfit for more managerial positions within a more creative environment, but still maintaining a business smart/corporate feel. The third look is more relaxed but still put together and also quiet feminine because there is no structured blazer. I would wear this for administrative job interviews when the weather gets warmer. The final look is the usual black pencil skirt and blazer which is made more feminine thanks to the lace top. I would wear this, but with a different bag than the above, for corporate interviews.

All of the above clothing is from Zara, with the exception of the pencil skirt which is from Orsay. The black bag is from Parfois and the cream one is from Dorothy Perkins. The nude pumps are from Tip Toes. Usually I like to buy my interview clothes from Zara, as I think that the clothes there are higher in quality than most other high street shops and look very smart and put together. For handbags I love Zara and Parfos. Occasionally, I buy smarter clothes from Orsay too. And for shoes I like Tip Toes because I can find low heel pumps which are both comfortable and look put together but are not too expensive.

For accessories I like to limit myself to a pair of stud earrings, usually pearls and my Michael Kors watch. I will soon be sharing with you an interview outfit I recently wore which features one of the above looks.

Remember, whenever you have an interview make sure you look smart and put together; keep your makeup simple and make sure your hair looks groomed and makes you look your best. Also keep the accessories to a minimum. Most importantly, do your research, prepare your answers, take all the necessary papers with you, be confident and make sure you get there on time.

STAY FAB
