It's been 2 months since my Pre-SPRING: Fitness & Diet Update and I really feel it's time I post another update, since things have changed. So here it is....
I told you I was counting my calories religiously, and that helped me a lot. After that period, however, I felt the need to stop counting calories and taking notes of my daily calories to calculate my weekly calories. I know how this can get to an obsessive point, plus it's time consuming and it's not like we are machines and need to measure everything precisely. So I am no longer doing that. But because of that month of calories counting I now know how many calories most of my usual meals amount to. So I can roughly calculate my daily calories just to make sure I am not exceeding them, and know when I can allow myself a bigger treat and when I should not. Again, this doesn't mean that if I am really feeling like something I won't go past my calories limit. I definitely will, but I will do it every now and then and not every single day. I strongly believe that life is too short not to enjoy the food you love, especially if you are a foodie like me. You just have to look at it through a wider lens - enjoy the food you love in moderation, allow yourself to cheat every now and then, eat healthy most of the time, experiment with your daily meals and don't make them boring, and most importantly exercise as much as you can physically and time-wise.
Let's talk fitness now......In my last post I said I was enjoying Kendell Hogan and while I still do one of his workouts every now and then, I have changed my workout routine twice since then. In this post, I am going to share the workout routine I have followed during the month of April. I will talk about my current routine in my next fitness update. In April I have discovered Tae Bo and I have really been enjoying Billy Blanks workouts. His workouts are perfect for me, as they combine kickboxing and martial arts and are a fun way to do cardio while toning. You know I love kickboxing, and I have always been fascinated by martial arts. Plus, my favourite instructors tend to be Afro-Americans. I think they are very passionate about what they do and are great at motivating people. They have a great charisma and they simply make me want to work out harder and harder. These Tae bo workouts are pretty hard, they are longer than what I was used to and they really work most of the muscles in my body. Because of all of this, I have seen an improvement in my resistance and my body is much more toned. Plus I have fun doing them. Below are few links about my favourite Tae Bo workouts by Billy Blanks.
